No Longer Able to Breastfeed, Randa Watches Her Three-Month-Old Starve
GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE, JUL 24 – UNRWA warns that one in five children in Gaza City is malnourished as aid truck deliveries remain far below the 600 daily minimum needed to sustain two million people.
- Amid escalating hunger, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East warned that Gaza is on the verge of total collapse, with widespread hunger pushing families and aid workers beyond limits of survival.
- Despite warnings, an average of 28 truckloads of aid are being distributed daily in Gaza, signed by 111 organisations including Doctors Without Borders , Oxfam and Save the Children.
- The Hamas-run Health Ministry reported 33 people, including 12 children, died from malnutrition in the previous 48 hours.
- At aid sites, 1,026 people have been killed by the military seeking food there, and the UN reports aid distribution is limited to four fixed points run by Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
- Later this month; UNRWA has called for unrestricted humanitarian access as 6,000 aid trucks are blocked in Jordan and Egypt, according to UNRWA.
