METROPOLITAN CITY OF ROME, LAZIO, JUL 23 – Over 500,000 young pilgrims from 146 countries will attend the Jubilee featuring relic veneration, prayer vigils, and talks to inspire faith ahead of the September canonizations.
- From July 28 to Aug. 3, the Jubilee of Youth opens in Rome, with relics of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and Blessed Carlo Acutis available for veneration, attracting over 500,000 young Catholics and highlighting their spiritual legacy.
- The canonization of Carlo Acutis was originally scheduled for April 27 but was postponed after Pope Francis's death in April, with the ceremony now set for September 7, 2025.
- Beginning July 26, pilgrims can venerate Pier Giorgio Frassati’s incorrupt remains at the Basilica of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva while the Church of San Marcello al Corso becomes the ‘Blessed Carlo Acutis Center’ hosting relic veneration.
- With temperatures forecasted to reach 32°C to 34°C, organizers plan extensive hydration and cooling measures, and the Vatican authorities coordinate safety efforts.
- Ahead of Sept. 7’s canonization, the Jubilee’s centerpiece events will unfold at Tor Vergata on August 2–3, with pilgrims hiking 5 kilometers from transit and both blesseds to be canonized at the Vatican.
