The first harvest of the season has begun for the famous Karaağaç hot peppers, synonymous with Edirne's pan-fried liver dish. Grown from heirloom seeds in fields near the Pazarkule Border Gate, the yield is expected to reach 250 tons.
The harvest of Karaağaç hot peppers, served alongside Edirne's famous pan-fried liver, began to the accompaniment of Thracian folk music in 9/8 time. Grown from heirloom seeds and exclusively in the Karaağaç neighborhood, the peppers will be strung on ropes and dried after harvest. Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer stated that they cannot keep up with demand and emphasized the need to increase production and industrialize it.
