Several of the championship matches will take place in the middle of the night Norwegian time. Now the Prime Minister wants municipalities to be able to allow alcohol to be served all night during the World Cup matches.
If the government has its way, it will be possible to buy beer or wine in places showing the World Cup until 6 in the morning.
Norway's men's national football team will participate in the World Cup in the summer of 2026, and the government is today submitting for consultation a proposal for a temporary exemption from the Alcohol Act that would allow municipalities to allow serving beyond the legal maximum time.
