Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček (ANO) ruled out that the government would increase this year's state budget deficit due to defense commitments. The cabinet will therefore look for missing expenses that could be reported as defense in already approved projects of other ministries, primarily transport, healthcare or industry. The second option is to transfer them directly to the Ministry of Defense, which Havlíček did not rule out either.
The government of Andrej Babiš intends to increase the budget of the Ministry of Defense this year to meet its obligations to NATO. Defense Minister Jaromír Zůna said that this should happen before the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit.
