Khartoum, (SUNA) - The Sudanese government has announced an extension of the opening of the Adre border crossing with Chad for humanitarian aid for an additional three months, from October 1 through December 31, 2026.
The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, welcomed the news that humanitarian workers could continue to use the Adri border crossing between Chad and the Sudan. Fletcher said in a social media release on Thursday, 1 October 2026, thank the authorities in both countries for saving lives. Mr. Fletcher described the Adri crossing as a vital lifeline for the people of Darfur. …
The Sudanese government decided, Wednesday, to extend the opening of the Adri border crossing with Chad for an additional three months until the end of this year. The Sudan continued to reopen the crossing every three months as of August 15, 2023, although it occurred in the state of Western Darfur under the control of the rapid support forces; with a view to ensuring the flow of humanitarian assistance to the country's foreign territory.
