We already owe nearly $7 billion in unfunded liabilities from the old pension system - roughly $46K per Alaskan. Reopening it would pile on billions more and threaten the Permanent Fund as the inevitable funding backstop.
The Ministry of Labour has published the bill banning the accumulation of pensions with pay in the state. On the basis of the initial variant, the changes are only intended for special pensions and are not applicable to teachers and doctors.
