Half of adults in the Czech Republic cannot recognize the symptoms of domestic violence. Roughly the same proportion of people do not know how to help victims. More than three-fifths of Czechs are willing to get involved and lend a helping hand. This was shown by a February survey by the Ipsos agency for the Pod svícnem initiative. 1,060 people over the age of 18 responded to the survey.

Every fifth Czech man or woman has experienced domestic violence. The willingness to help victims is growing, but people still do not know how to proceed in the situation correctly, a survey has shown. Many of them mistakenly think that the victim does not deserve it. The new awareness campaign "Lend a Hand" is intended to help, which aims to educate the public on how to solve the problem.
