The German courts today rejected a request from the companies Nord Stream AG and Nord Stream 2AG, controlled by the Russian consortium Gazprom, to constitute assistants in criminal proceedings against an alleged person responsible for the sabotage of the pipeline in the Baltic Sea.
The Nord Stream pipeline explosions in the Baltic Sea in 2022 are not expected to result in a decision on possible claims for damages to the Russian operating companies. That is what the court in Hamburg decided.
The Court denied Nord Street AG and Nord Street 2 AG access to the proceedings as victims, while the Court recognized that the companies had suffered damage as a result of the explosions but did not see the basis for their participation in the proceedings as victims on the prosecution side.
