An EU court annulled the exclusion of the construction of business jets from the European sustainability taxonomy. French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation had sued.
Private jets cannot simply be excluded from the EU list of sustainable investments, a European judge ruled on Wednesday. The ruling forces the European Commission to revise or better substantiate its earlier decision from 2023.
On Wednesday, the General Court of the European Union (TGUE) annulled the exclusion of the manufacture of private jets from a label established by the European Commission that allowed investors to know which projects are environmentally sustainable, considering that the pollution criterion used by Brussels is linked to the exploitation (use) of aircraft and not to their production.
