Estonia Builds 1,000-Troop Military Base Near Russia’s Border—Price Tag Rises to $23 Million
Estonia’s planned military base in the eastern border city of Narva will cost just over €20 million (around $23 million) and is now expected to be completed in summer 2028, six months later than originally planned, according to ERR on September 25.
The construction of the Narva campus of the Estonian Defence Forces will cost 20 million euros and will be completed half a year later than expected.
Russia wouldn't have to send tank columns to Estonia to present NATO with one of the most difficult tests in its history. A minor provocation in Narva, a few people posing as local separatists, and a narrative of "defending the Russian population" would suffice. Experts are analyzing just such a scenario, and Estonia is already preparing a response.
