The Chisasibi First Nation is experiencing problems with drinking water and smoky air. The state of emergency was declared on June 3 after the water treatment plant was damaged by lightning, following a notice to boil water issued the previous day, while the water level in the Grande River was too low to fill the community's drinking water reservoir. Hydro-Québec was contacted to release more water from the La Grande 1 dam.
