NARATHIWAT: Thailand is assessing the situation and working to maintain security in its three southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala following a series of simultaneous violent incidents involving bombings and acts of sabotage that began late Saturday night (Aug 22).
Narucha, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, ordered the highest level of security in the three southern border provinces following several incidents of unrest. He instructed the public to remain in the area.
Many violent acts were perpetrated on Saturday evening in the provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala, reports the international press. Still unclaimed, these attacks prompted the authorities to react, with the establishment of a curfew in part of the country.
On August 23, Mr. Narucha Khosasilvilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, sent an urgent letter to the deputy governors of Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, and Songkhla provinces.
