Porsche Just Unveiled Its First GT4 Race Car Based on the 911

The 911 GT4 R uses the 911 Cup as its base and will cost $375,000 when it reaches customers.

  • Porsche introduced the 911 GT4 R, marking the first time the company has produced a 911-based GT4-spec race car. The new model succeeds the discontinued Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
  • The race car utilizes the 992.2 911 Cup as its foundation, benefiting from detailed development work on that model. Porsche Motorsport director Matthias Scholz said the car "embodies Porsche's motorsport DNA like no other."
  • Powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six, the 911 GT4 R generates up to 513 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. A rear wing with 11 manually adjustable positions enhances aerodynamic performance.
  • The 911 GT4 R will be sold in the United States for $375,000 and start competing in the 2027 motorsports season. It is homologated for the SRO GT4 America and IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
  • Inside, the driver faces a 10.3-inch digital display providing real-time analysis via built-in GPS and data logger systems. Engine outputs will fluctuate to meet BoP regulations throughout competition.
