Astronaut From Williamsburg Leads SpaceX Mission to International Space Station
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, JUL 31 – The Crew-11 team will replace Crew-10 on the ISS and conduct experiments and maintenance during their mission, NASA officials said.
- Amid weather delays, Crew-11 is set to launch on Friday from Kennedy Space Center after postponement from Thursday.
- Following Crew-10’s rotation, Crew-11 marks SpaceX’s 11th operational flight for NASA and the first step toward a permanent Moon presence, as the NASA Artemis program aims for lunar exploration.
- The Dragon spacecraft will take 39 hours to reach the ISS, with docking scheduled around 3 a.m. EDT on Saturday, as coverage begins at 1 a.m. EDT.
- After arrival, the Crew-11 crew will relieve four Crew-10 astronauts, joining the seven current ISS residents.
- Future missions will leverage the Artemis program and scientific experiments aboard the International Space Station to advance exploration beyond low Earth orbit, NASA said.
