Regarding the construction of a new base in Henoko, Nago City, in connection with the relocation of the U.S. military's Futenma Air Station, it has been learned that the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has sent a letter to the Japanese government stating that it is "concerned that (the relocation) will infringe on the rights of the indigenous peoples of Ryukyu and Okinawa."
