The Conjuring movies may be the most wholesome franchise in modern horror. Sure, they’re all rated R, an impressive feat for films that contain relatively little direct violence, sex, or even cursing — they’re age-restricted based on pure overall terror.
Despite not always enthusiastic reviews, it is the highest-grossing horror series of all time. The Conjuring, translated into Czech as The Conjuring, concludes with the fourth chapter. The last film directed by Michael Chavez, in which the audience meets demonologists played by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, has found its imaginary end. In terms of craftsmanship, everything looks as it should. In terms of content, it is weaker.
