A dog attack can have not only physical but also long-lasting psychological consequences.

After the tragic incident in Carnikava, where two dogs attacked students at the Carnikava kindergarten "Riekstiņš", the municipal police should be allowed to remove the aggressive animals, believes the Speaker of the Saeima, former Chairwoman of the Carnikava Regional Council Daiga Mieriņa (ZZS).

"What happened in Carnikava, where dogs bit children, is a very serious reminder that human safety must be a priority. Such situations must be prevented in a timely manner, and the actions of state and local government institutions must be coordinated. It is unacceptable that the actions of institutions in similar cases differ significantly," emphasizes Daiga Mieriņa, Speaker of the Saeima.
