Police chief moves to appoint Ben-Gvir confidant as force's top legal officer
Senior Israel Police officials criticize the appointment of Eran Nahon to the sensitive role. He has previously assisted the far-right minister in toughening conditions for Palestinian security prisoners
Contrary to the Commissioner's Position: Ben Gvir Announced the Appointment of a New Police Attorney
Ben Gvir announced the appointment of his legislative advisor David Bavli to the position, as first reported in Walla. Unlike the minister, Chief Superintendent Levy believed it would be better to appoint an officer from within the police ranks and not someone who is considered to be doing Ben Gvir's bidding.
Senior law enforcement officials are criticizing Levy's decision to appoint Iran Nahon, currently the IPS Attorney General, to the sensitive position, even though he is not from within the organization, and despite his closeness to the IPS Commissioner. Those around Nahon claim: He is a true gatekeeper and not anyone's "yes-man." After the announcement of the appointment, Ben Gvir presented another candidate, his advisor David Bavli.
