The suspect is a local police officer, Riccardo Salvagno, involved in drug trafficking. According to the law, Riccardo Salvagno, born in 1985, employed by the local police in Venice, shot Sergiu Žarn on the night of 30 to 31 December 2025 and fled to Spain. He was detained on 7 January, after returning from Madrid.
