After burning through over 2000 acers and lasting 82 days, the South Carolina Forestry Commission announced the Horry County Covington Drive is 100% contained.

The Covington Drive Wildfire is now 100% contained. The fire ignited on March 1 and burned 2,059 acres in the Carolina Forest area. The flames were declared contained after significant rainfall in the area that assisted in extinguishing the hotspots that had been smoldering for weeks.
