Located in the historic Grand Bazaar in the city center of Kirkuk, Iraq, the Muhammad Najib Mosque is among the city's oldest places of worship, with the call to prayer constantly echoing from its minarets for 148 years.
Seyid Fikret Muhammed Abdulhadi, the imam of the mosque, said that the tradition of calling the five daily prayers has continued uninterrupted in the mosque, which is approximately one and a half centuries old. Necat Kevseroğlu, a historian and researcher from Kirkuk, said: "This is not only a place of worship, but also one of the important centers of social life where the people of the region, artisans and tradesmen come together."
