It Looks Like Mercedes Is Almost Ready to Reveal Its High-Performance AMG Electric SUV
Mercedes-AMG showed a covered SUV on social media, signaling a possible high-performance EV with the GT 4-door’s 1,153 hp drivetrain and 800V charging.
Over the weekend, Mercedes-AMG teased its upcoming electric SUV via social media, sharing images of the vehicle under a black shroud developed in Affalterbach, Germany.
The automaker unveiled the 2027 GT 4-Door earlier this year, positioning it as the most powerful vehicle Mercedes-AMG has ever built. This new SUV shares the sedan's platform, expected to launch later this year.
Expected powertrain options include a tri-motor setup producing 805 hp in the GT55 trim and 1153 hp in the GT63, with a dual-motor version delivering 536 hp. The electric SUV will likely mirror the sedan's powertrain specifications.
While the SUV appears taller than the GT 4-Door, it retains similar three-pointed star headlights. The rear design differs, featuring a single taillight on each side compared to the sedan's three.
This vehicle marks the first AMG model completely developed at the Affalterbach headquarters. Mercedes-AMG first announced plans for the electric SUV in November 2024, with a full reveal appearing imminent.
