The 9th stage of the Grand Boucle was completed at Châteauroux. If it seemed relatively calm, it recorded a considerable average speed.
The two outliers almost made it, but in the end there was the mass sprint in Châteauroux. But no one could save strength for the difficult stage through the central massif. And: Pogacar lost an important helper.
The stage raced on Sunday 13 July between Chinon and Châteauroux broke speed records, approaching the fastest in history.
Thanks to the escape of Jonas Rickaert and Mathieu Van der Poel, the 9th stage of the Tour de France between Chinon and Châteauroux, this Sunday, was particularly fast. Never, in the 21st century, had a stage been run at more than 50 km/h average.
