- Baggage screening using an X-ray revealed white powder concealed in the linings of 12 tote bags, which initial tests confirmed as heroin valued at about $345,000.
- Prosecutors charged the woman with importing and possessing the drug, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment; she will appear in a Melbourne court in September.
- Thai Airways confirmed the detention and stated it is cooperating with authorities, adding that employees are strictly prohibited from possessing narcotics or illegal substances.
- Acting Commander Simone Butcher said the AFP remains unwavering in targeting individuals who use their employment to support drug trafficking operations.
