Talarico neck and neck with Paxton in new Texas Senate poll
A new Emerson College poll shows little movement in Texas statewide races, with the economy still voters' top issue and Hispanic support shifting toward Talarico.
An Emerson College Polling/Nexstar Media Texas poll shows Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton in a dead heat, with 47% and 46% support respectively.
Since August, Talarico gained a point while Paxton lost a point, narrowing what was a 1% Paxton lead in the previous Emerson poll.
The economy remains the top issue for Texas voters at 36%, while 90% of likely voters reported hearing about the September Republican National Committee midterm convention.
In the gubernatorial race, incumbent Republican Greg Abbott holds 49% support while Democrat Gina Hinojosa trails with 46%, maintaining Abbott's lead Since August.
As the election cycle enters its final stretch toward Election Day, the survey of 1,000 likely voters carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
