RWTH Aachen will be allowed to test its autonomous research car on German roads in the future. The German Motor Vehicle Office has granted the corresponding approval to the Institute for Motor Vehicles. The car is called "carl.- and can drive independently, theoretically even without a driver. However, for safety reasons, one person always sits at the wheel of the vehicle.
