Tesla Upgrades Model 3 and Model Y in China, Hikes Price for Long-Range Sedan
- Tesla enhanced the driving range of its Model 3 and Model Y Long Range variants produced in China and increased the price of the Model 3 Long Range by 10,000 yuan on Tuesday.
- These adjustments come after two price hikes earlier in 2025 and reflect ongoing challenges in the Chinese EV market alongside changes within the country's automotive industry.
- The Model 3 Long Range now features an extended CLTC range totaling 753 kilometers and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Meanwhile, the Model Y Long Range’s range has increased to 750 kilometers without any change to its price, which remains at RMB 313,500.
- Tesla has shortened the waiting period for receiving the Model 3 Long Range from 3–5 weeks to between 1 and 3 weeks, and both Model Y versions now also have waiting times of 1 to 3 weeks. The company continues to offer incentives such as an RMB 8,000 subsidy for insurance and paint, along with five-year interest-free financing options.
- Tesla China recorded its highest weekly insurance registrations of 20,680 units in late June, but Q2 sales remain down about 4.6% quarter-over-quarter and 10.9% year-over-year.
