Micheál Martin Marches in Dublin Pride as Tens of Thousands Attend
Organisers said the parade is the island of Ireland’s biggest celebration of diversity and inclusion, with more than 600 LGBTQ+ young people taking part.
Tens of thousands of people gathered in Dublin on Saturday for the annual Pride parade, centered on the theme 'One Story- Many Voices,' with Taoiseach Micheál Martin marching alongside Grand Marshal Philippa Ryder.
Outhouse chief executive Oisín O'Reilly addressed the crowd before the march, stating that with rights 'increasingly under attack,' the event serves as a crucial act of 'solidarity and resistance.'
More than 600 LGBTQ+ youth participated in the march, with Belong To chief executive Kieran O'Donovan expressing 'immense pride' seeing the turnout while attendee Dennis Fowley highlighted ongoing gaps in Ireland's trans healthcare system.
Drag performer Mary Harness, a 20-year veteran, noted the parade's essential roots as a protest, a view shared by Violet Brown, who credited the Outhouse collective for supporting her transition.
Traffic restrictions remained in place across Dublin city centre until 4pm to accommodate the route, while the festival continues with exhibitions and live performances at Pride Square.
