Footage of Celtic Protest as Dermot Desmond Targeted & Tennis Balls Thrown at Golf
Police said tennis balls were thrown at Dermot Desmond during the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and no injuries were reported.
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond faced an incident at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews when a group threw tennis balls toward him on the 15th green.
Disgruntled Celtic fans reportedly orchestrated the disruption, with the group wearing balaclavas and black clothing while throwing tennis balls bearing Desmond's face onto the green.
Playing alongside five-time major winner Brooks Koepka, the 76-year-old continued his round; Koepka missed a short birdie putt after the balls were cleared from the course.
Although the group fled before Police Scotland could intervene, there were no reports of injuries, and Desmond left the course in a buggy with security present.
A regular participant, Desmond has only missed one of the previous 24 editions of the event held at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, and St Andrews; tournament organizers refused to comment.
