It was not in 1992 but years before, in October 1988 although the stage was the same: Montjuïc. There they sang the soprano Montserrat Caballé and the singer Freddie Mercury his iconic 'Barcelona' on the same day that the city received the Olympic torch coming from Seoul within the festival La Nit in Barcelona. Caballé would sing it again at the inaugural ceremony of the Olympic Games but without Mercury, who died in 1991.
