Where in UK Could Temperature Could Fall to 2C This Weekend
Forecasters said temperatures will fall to near-average by Sunday as rain spreads eastward and the Met Office warned of 11 water-related deaths.
The record-breaking UK heatwave is finally easing, according to the Met Office, with Chief Forecaster Chris Bulmer stating, "We're now starting to see this spell of very hot weather break down."
For Saturday, Outbreaks of Rain are expected to spread from the west before moving gradually eastwards, bringing more unsettled conditions as the hot spell ends across much of the UK.
Peak temperatures are expected to drop to around 20-22C across much of the UK on Sunday and Monday, with the Met Office forecasting near-average conditions by the weekend.
Tragically, the recent hot weather contributed to 11 water-related deaths across South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Cornwall, Hampshire, Warwickshire, Cheshire, Pembrokeshire, Lincolnshire, and Lancashire, with a teenage girl becoming the 11th victim.
The RNLI advises swimmers to be prepared before entering open water; if in difficulty, Wait until shock passes then Call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard in an emergency.
