The figures are not closed, but the Directorate-General for Health estimates that during the last heat wave that occupied Portugal, more than 69 people may have died in most of them over 85 years of age.
The DGS warns that "probably a significant impact of heat on mortality is maintained in the next three days, which may lead to a high review of mortality over time".
