Teledyne to Acquire Varex Imaging in $1.1B Deal

- Sensing-Systems maker Teledyne Technologies agreed to acquire Varex Imaging for approximately $1.1 billion in an all-cash transaction, the companies announced on Monday.
- Teledyne Executive Chairman Robert Mehrabian said the companies have complementary product portfolios with minimal overlap, with Varex adding specialized detectors for high-radiation oncology environments that Teledyne currently lacks.
- Varex shares surged over 48% following the announcement, while the company reported quarterly earnings of 31 cents per share, beating the analyst consensus estimate of 21 cents.
- Boards of both companies unanimously approved the transaction, which is expected to close in early 2027, subject to regulatory clearances and approval from Varex shareholders.
- Varex CEO Sunny Sanyal said the acquisition will help accelerate adoption of advanced imaging solutions, expanding Teledyne's healthcare presence established through its 2011 acquisition of Teledyne DALSA.
