The Finnish energy company Fingrid has told Russian telecom operators it will stop maintaining the power line poles that carry fiber-optic communication lines starting in 2027, sources told the Russian business daily Kommersant.
Fingrid's communications confirmed the matter to Helsingin Sanomat.
The disconnection is not expected to have any significant impact on consumers. Electricity exports between the countries were stopped already in 2022.
Finland's national electricity transmission grid company Fingrid is cutting off its fiber-optic connection to Russia, the Russian newspaper Kommersant reports.
