Teens charged with selling drugs at Greater Victoria detox centres

  • On May 6, the Saanich Police Street Crime Unit, with help from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, apprehended two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, near detox centres in the Greater Victoria area.
  • The arrests came after an inquiry that began on April 29 regarding suspected drug sales targeting young individuals living in residential care facilities and treatment centers within the Capital Region.
  • Police discovered that the teenagers had nearly 17 grams of fentanyl believed to be for distribution, including portions already separated into individual packages, along with three grams of methamphetamine and around 27 grams of cannabis.
  • Jason Hallman, a spokesperson for the Saanich Police, indicated that the investigation was initiated due to that particular allegation but did not provide further details.
  • The youths were released with conditions and will appear in court, while police continue their probe and will recommend trafficking charges to the Crown.
