Teenagers found guilty of manslaughter after man lured to beach and killed
The teenagers believed the victim was a paedophile and lured him to carry out a vigilante attack; two were convicted of manslaughter and a third admitted guilt.
- On Monday, February 16, 2026, two teenagers were convicted of manslaughter over the death of 49-year-old Alexander Cashford, while a 16-year-old boy had earlier admitted to a manslaughter charge.
- Using the alias Sienna, the three exchanged messages and arranged to meet Mr Cashford by the sea wall on August 10, 2025.
- Mobile footage presented in court shows a boy striking Mr Cashford on the head with a bottle, while forensic pathologist Dr Anna Biddlestone found more than 30 external injuries and at least 500ml of blood in his left chest cavity.
- At Woolwich Crown Court, the trio stood trial charged with murder but were acquitted of murder, and legal reporting restrictions prevent naming the defendants.
- Jurors heard that the teenagers believed Mr Cashford was a paedophile and the girl can be heard shouting `F****** paedophile.` during the attack, while the older male defendant said he attacked because he believed police `wouldn't have done anything` if they had reported him.
