Teenager pleads guilty after planning copycat of Southport killings
The teenager possessed extremist manuals and ricin recipes linked to a planned copycat attack of the Southport stabbing, authorities said.
- The 17-year-old appeared at Liverpool Crown Court and admitted four counts of possession of documents likely to be used in preparing acts of terrorism, including the Improvised Munitions Handbook and al-Qaeda training manual.
- Prosecutors said he became fascinated with violent acts and sought to emulate Axel Rudakubana rather than acting from ideology; he was known to social services, treated by CAMHS, and thought to have autism after dropping out of school.
- Police found a bag of knives taken from his mother’s house at his grandparents’ home, and his Samsung mobile phone showed photos and geo-location to Southport with encrypted notes praising Rudakubana.
