Teenager voted in as UK's youngest council leader
WARWICKSHIRE, ENGLAND, JUL 22 – George Finch, 19, leads Warwickshire County Council with a budget of around £500 million after winning the leadership vote by a single deciding vote.
- George Finch, 19, has been voted as the youngest permanent council leader in the UK at Shire Hall in Warwick on Tuesday.
- Finch is also the youngest county councillor ever, having served as deputy leader previously.
- In the first round of voting, Finch received 23 votes, while others received fewer.

A teenager from Reform UK has just been elected leader of a county council. George Finch, who’s 19 was already the interim leader of Warwickshire County Council. He was confirmed in the job thanks to a casting vote by a Reform colleague. As he emerged from the meeting to make a press statement our reporter Andrew Misra tried to ask a couple of questions – but the UK’s youngest ever council leader didn’t seem too keen to speak to the media.
