A 16-year-old girl suffered serious injuries Wednesday afternoon when she struck an overhead beam while riding on top of a southbound A train in Queens, according to Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials.
A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured after hitting a beam while practicing "subway surfing" — an act of traveling on the roof of a moving train — on the New York subway. The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Broad Channel Station in Queens District. The young woman was taken to a hospital and survived, despite the severity of the injuries.
