Teenage driver dies, one seriously injured in Kawartha region crash
Police say a 16-year-old driver died and a passenger was airlifted with life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash.
On Saturday, a 16-year-old girl died following a two-vehicle collision in Bobcaygeon, a community in Kawartha Lakes, Ont., according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. near County Road 49 and Burys Green Road after calls of a two-vehicle accident, the OPP reported in a news release Sunday.
A passenger in the vehicle was airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle was uninjured, the OPP confirmed.
Following an investigation at the scene, roads have reopened to normal traffic flow, police said.
Anyone with dashcam footage or information about the collision is urged to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers to assist with the ongoing investigation.
