Teenage boy on e-bike dies in hit-and-run in Co Clare
Gardaí are seeking witnesses and dash-cam footage as investigators examine the scene and a post-mortem is arranged after the boy’s death.
Shortly after 11pm on Friday, a teenage boy died following a hit-and-run incident on the L3050 at Cottage Cross near Clonlara, on the Clare-Limerick border.
A second vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene, prompting Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to seal the area for examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage from anyone in the Clonlara area at the time. Information can be provided to Henry Garda Station at 212400 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
Emergency services and Paramedics responded after a member of the public discovered the teenager unresponsive by the roadside. The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
Figures show 127 road deaths up to September 4th, an increase from 112 in 2025, with Government expressing concern about rising fatalities in recent years.
