West Midlands Police said the victim remains in critical condition as officers seek witnesses and footage after the shooting.
A 17-year-old boy appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Friday, July 3, charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Emergency services responded to Bowyer Road in Alum Rock shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, after a 16-year-old boy was shot and remains in critical condition.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock from West Midlands Police's Major Crime Team urged residents to provide dashcam or doorbell footage. "Our investigation is continuing," Nock said.
Witnesses may contact West Midlands Police on 101, quoting log 4638 of July 1, or pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
The suspect was remanded in custody following the court appearance, and enquiries remain ongoing as police process evidence from the scene.
