Charges include possession of an unregistered pistol and stalking after a pellet from a BB gun struck a student, prompting a school lockdown and police intervention.
On Thursday, a 15-year-old boy was charged after allegedly firing an air gun at Rose Bay Secondary College in Dover Heights, Sydney. Police rushed to the school following reports of a firearm, prompting an immediate lockdown.
Police were told the boy showed another student a weapon before firing a pellet that reportedly struck the victim in the back. Authorities described the device as a realistic, shotgun-style "BB gun" that heightened concerns.
Officers arrested the teenager at the scene and seized the firearm used in the incident. Police confirmed no injuries were reported despite the projectile striking a student.
Following his arrest, the boy was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol, stalking, and firing a firearm in a public place. He was refused bail and held overnight in custody.
The teenager is scheduled to appear before a children's court today, Friday, March 20, 2026. The incident at the Sydney school remains significant as authorities process multiple charges related to the firearm event.
