Teddi Mellencamp Shares Immunotherapy Is Making Her "Sicker" Amid Cancer Journey
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, JUL 24 – Teddi Mellencamp halted immunotherapy after doctors warned the treatment could worsen her condition despite earlier scans showing tumor shrinkage, with a 50% survival chance given.
- On the July 23 episode of Two T's in a Pod, Teddi Mellencamp announced she’s pausing immunotherapy after doctors found it was worsening her condition.
- Before pausing treatment, Mellencamp was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic melanoma in October 2022, which progressed to tumors in her brain and lungs by February, prompting surgery.
- What's happening with me is the longer that I'm on immunotherapy, the sicker it's making me, Mellencamp said, and after an emergency appointment she learned continuing treatment would worsen her condition.
- Pausing immunotherapy, she’ll begin steroids to rebuild her strength and `we're doing everything we can to get me back to feeling like I can do this, I can do all the things,` she said.
- It's stage 4 until it's gone, until I'm in remission,` Mellencamp said, and doctors plan for her to continue immunotherapy for at least two more years.
