Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen to Be Honored at Emmy Awards
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, SEP 14 – Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are honored for decades of philanthropy and activism, including environmental and social causes, at the 77th Emmy Awards, the Television Academy said.
- On July 30, 2025, the Television Academy announced that actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen will jointly receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 77th Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 14.
- According to the Television Academy’s criteria, they were chosen for “a lifetime of extraordinary philanthropy, activism and unwavering commitment to global good,” reflecting Bob Hope’s altruism.
- Steenburgen worked with charities including Artists for a Free South Africa, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Heifer International and No Kid Hungry, supporting various causes.
- This marks the first time the award has honored a couple, as the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award has only been given five times since 2002, selected to receive by the Television Academy.
- The 77th Emmy Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and Paramount+.
