Taxi drivers have been protesting for several weeks against a new calculation of the remuneration of health transport, an important source of income for them.
Drivers put pressure on the government on Wednesday morning, June 11th, by mobilising themselves in front of the Ministry of Economy in Paris, while discussions on the transport of sick people are taking place.
Mobilised against the reform of the transport of the sick and the increased competition, the taxis multiply the actions to defend their income. After a meeting with the taxi organizations, the Minister of Health proposed a new meeting by the end of June.
The representatives of the taxis are remobilising this Wednesday, after having slammed the door to the negotiations last Thursday at the Ministry of Health. They continue to call for the abandonment of the reform of the transport of the sick.
Some 60 street taxi drivers mobilized in the capital on Thursday morning to demand a fair unification of the sector. They called for an end to the discrimination between street taxis and station taxis, and also denounced the increasingly precarious working conditions imposed by the platforms, as did Uber.
