The fire that burned for two days in June took the roof off the far end of the bay where Tata's new pickle line is going in and wrecked the crane girders, so the steelwork now has to be built on the floor rather than craned in. The company's programme lead says the rest of the job is moving, with more than 1,000 piles going into ground that sits below the water table.
