Target Names Ex-Walmart Executive as Supply Chain Chief in CEO's ...
Jeff England will replace Gretchen McCarthy as Target pushes a $6 billion plan to improve inventory, delivery times and sales growth.
Target named former Walmart executive Jeff England as its new EVP and chief global supply chain and logistics officer on Tuesday; England will succeed Gretchen McCarthy, joining the retailer at the end of this month.
CEO Michael Fiddelke is bolstering the management team to drive efficiency and restore sales growth amid persistent in-stock reliability challenges that have frustrated customers expecting products ready every time they shop.
England brings nearly two decades of experience from Walmart and most recently served as chief supply chain officer at QXO, where he strengthened inventory availability; Fiddelke noted his expertise in operations and automation is exactly what Target needs.
McCarthy will transition into a strategic advisor role through August following the appointment; Target recently opened a $265 million Receive Center in Houston last month to boost inventory holding capacity and network flexibility.
The retailer reports quarterly results on Wednesday amid high inflation and supply chain volatility due to the Iran war, with investors scrutinizing consumer spending; Target has also reduced prices on about 3,000 products earlier this year.
