Target Says It's Trimming Prices on 2,000 Items Ahead of the Holiday Shopping Season
The retailer said some apparel is 20% below last year’s prices as it tries to win budget-conscious shoppers before the holiday season.
On Tuesday, Target announced price cuts on about 2,000 home, apparel, and accessory items to attract cost-conscious shoppers ahead of the upcoming holiday season.
Consumer sentiment fell to a four-month low this month as heightened fuel costs and macroeconomic pressures strain household budgets, CEO Michael Fiddelke noted.
Women's long-sleeve T-shirts dropped from $15 to $12, and children's rain and winter boots averaged 15% lower than a year ago.
These discounts complement Target's October Circle Deal Days event, which competes with Amazon's Big Deal Days sale to capture holiday spending.
Target previously reduced prices on about 3,000 products in March, and the latest cuts contribute to 10,000 price reductions made over the past year.
